Our speaker will be Kevin Coffey, Sr. Travel and Meetings Risk Consultant GoldSpring Consulting 

One question must be asked in anticipation of the return of business travel – does your travel risk management (TRM) program provide the basic components to support your employees when needed? This enhanced-length 1.5-hour program is designed for both travel managers and supplier partners and will share creative ways to increase the effectiveness of TRM programs. The program will explore ways to best identify and utilizing existing internal resources to save costs. The program will also cover the pending release of the new International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard – ISO 31030, the first international standard to helping organizations establish a TRM framework based on principles and processes.  

Our Presenter
Kevin Coffey, Senior Travel and Meeting Risk Consultant at GoldSpring Consulting, is responsible for assisting organizations in enhancing travel and meeting risk mitigation efforts. As an independent, non-biased travel and meeting risk consultant, his extensive knowledge and expertise within the travel and meeting risk domains fall in the following areas:

• Travel and meeting risk program assessments that helps organizations identify their travel program’s strengths and gaps, as well as uncovering internal resources for cost-savings measures.
• Development of travel and meeting risk management policies, procedures, and programs.
• Travel and meeting risk administrator training for travel and security professionals.
• TRM company and technology product sourcing and implementation.
• Travel safety video training and learning management system (LMS) supplier selection.
• Corporate travel risk committee development and coordination – A critical TRM tool.

Kevin’s experience in travel and meeting risk is further enhanced with a long career with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) where he was responsible for investigating crimes committed against travelers at LAX Airport, surrounding hotels and car rental facilities.

A frequent speaker at GBTA events across the country, Canada, and Mexico. He is a member of GBTA Los Angeles Chapter, the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), and the U.S. Department of State OSAC.

Kevin is regularly featured on national TV with appearances on ABC’s 20/20, Oprah, CNN, Fox News, the Travel Channel, and numerous print and travel media publications.

Kevin has been a presenter at GBTA Utah in the past, however this is a new presentation with content not shared with the Utah chapter previously. Members are encouraged to bring a guest that will find this content of benefit such as corporate security and/or risk department personnel.

About our Venue: Ensign College; Summit Grill

Ensign College was established in 1886 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  After many different locations and name changes the college moved to the Triad Center in 2006.  Our stated mission is, “…to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ.”  Additionally, having always been a 2-year institution, Ensign College will begin offering 4 year degrees beginning Fall semester of 2021.

Summit Grill is the food services arm of the college.  We only hire Ensign College students to work at Summit Grill, and our primary purpose is to feed Ensign College students, faculty, and staff.  However, we welcome all of our neighbors including those who work here at the Triad Center.
